BitLocker prompt during the X-PHY® Guard PC Application installation process

Modified on Fri, 6 Sep at 11:05 AM

During the installation process of the X-PHY® Guard PC Application for new user setups, the user is prompted to shutdown the device after BitLocker has been disabled.

BitLocker Decryption Requirement: For BitLocker to be disabled, all data on the encrypted partition must be decrypted first. This process ensures that the data remains accessible and secure even when BitLocker is turned off. As per Microsoft's design, this decryption is necessary for a complete and secure disablement of BitLocker.

Shutdown Prompt: Once BitLocker is disabled and the decryption process is complete, the X-PHY Guard® application prompts the user to either proceed with the shutdown or cancel it. This step allows the user to decide whether to continue with the shutdown or to review any ongoing tasks or warnings.

Automatic Disabling of BitLocker: The X-PHY® Guard PC Application handles the process of disabling BitLocker automatically in the background. This step involves decrypting the data, which might take some time depending on the amount of data and the system's performance.

X-PHY® Guard PC Application: When this application starts, it detects that BitLocker is enabled. To proceed with its security measures (such as shutting down the system to prevent potential ransomware damage), it needs to disable BitLocker.
